“For he hath
made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the
righteousness of God in him” (2 Corinthians 5:21)
If you’re
born again, not only has God given you righteousness as a gift, you’ve actually
also become His righteousness. That means you’ve received that nature of God
that gives you boldness in His presence, and dominion over the forces of
darkness. Therefore, sin is no longer an inhibiting factor, for Jesus
completely dealt with the issue of sin.
However, the
challenge a lot of people face is that even though sin is no longer a factor,
they’ve chosen to be sin-conscious instead of being righteousness-conscious.
“Sin-consciousness” is just as negative in its effect as sin itself.
Sin-consciousness hinders your faith. For example, if a Christian who is
sin-conscious makes a mistake, he’ll keep grinding himself over and over,
feeling bad. The more he does this, the weaker his faith becomes. That he did
something wrong is not the problem; his problem is he is more conscious of sin
than of his righteousness.
On the other
hand, if the Christian who is righteousness-conscious makes the same mistake,
his heart will be sorrowful, but he’ll take the Word which says “If we confess
our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). As soon as he has asked for
forgiveness, he receives it and that’s it. He gets up from there ready to
continue walking in faith. Hallelujah! Notice that the two men did the same
thing wrong, but it’s their different consciousnesses that consequently affect
their faith-walk.
In this year
of Favour, you must become more righteousness-conscious, for you’re as
righteous as Jesus is! Nothing shall be able to separate you from the Father’s
best when you operate with a righteousness consciousness. I urge you today, do
not let the consciousness of sin destroy your faith in this year of blessings.
God has a lot in store for you. He has said that it’s your to be favoured and
He has placed unprecedented favour along your path this year. Finally,
understand that God sees your heart and knows it’s your heart’s desire to
please Him always. So, go forth and experience abundance of favour in Jesus
name, Amen!
